Michael Ferber was born in Buffalo, New York, and attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania (BA in Greek Literature 1966). He received his doctorate in English at Harvard (1975), taught at Yale (1975-82), worked at the Coalition for a New Foreign and Military Policy in Washington DC (1983-87), and joined the English Department of the University of New Hampshire in 1987.
